Good evening!

Shana Shafer and I are going to be guests on Distorted Nation Radio at midnight on 5/5 (Friday “night” for those of you who stay up late).  It will be on 96.5 FM in Sac, and I’ll see if I can add a link to the SoundCloud in a later post.  Many thanks to Cory Modena for giving us air time to promote There Goes the Neighborhood.

Alright gang, I need sleep.  See you in the morning.

I Need To Get My Priorities Straight

Good morning!

Um, kinda none of the above.

On a random note, the dude who sent me this message walked into Luna’s during the last Willie Listen show, took one look at me, and walked back out.  What can I say.  Speaking of which, we are in the process of revamping the show.  Stay tuned...

Alrught, time for work, and then I’m going on Distorted Nation.  See you guys tonight.

Having My Cake And Eating It, Too

Good evening!  This has been...a day.

Thankfully I was able to get tea and cake, and discuss book with my best friend after work.  I’m super excited to start Noir next.  If you are reading/have read it, let me know what you think.

Alright, it’s bedtime.  I’m going on Distorted Nation Radio after work tomorrow to promote There Goes the Neighborhood.  See you guys in the morning.

Duck Siri

Good evening.  I don’t want to post a creepy screenshot, so here’s a failed Siri conversation between my friend and I from a few years ago.

I had an awesome evening catching up with Erin tonight.  We need to do this more often. Plus I added a few more books to my reading list.

I have some lines to memorize, and then I’m going to sleep.  (Cue suspenseful music.  This project is dropping Mother’s Day weekend.  I don’t want to say too much right now, but it’s going to be hilarious.)

See you guys in the morning.

Tally Ho

Good morning.  It’s going to be a busy week. Fun and productive, but also somewhat sleepless.

A few of my friends have been commenting that women are getting A LOT of random friend requests from guys on the other side of the globe.  I’m not sure what they hope to get out of it, but it’s nonetheless entertaining.  Especially when their opening line is “Ho”.

Alright, time go to do things.  See you guys later.

Comic Cook-Off

Good evening!  The dark chocolate raspberry pavlova worked out.

The cook-off was a blast.  It was great to hang out with everyone, and there are a few new projects in the works.  Stay tuned.

One of the new projects is a comedian book club, and we’re starting Trigger Warning by Neil Gaiman.  It’s amazing so far, and I’m gonna get some reading in tonight.  See you guys in the morning.

Men. So Demanding. Amirite????

Good evening!

I can’t tell if this guy was a bot or just a weirdo, but either way...no thanks.

Yes, Robert Bess, I know I left his screenname on the bottom.  The account doesn’t exist anymore.

So something new is in the works.  I can’t say too much because it’s still in the early stages, but it will be dropping on Mother’s Day weekend.  Stay tuned.

Time to get more stuff done.  See you guys in the morning.

Get Off My Pinterest

Good morning!

I have the feeling this is another thirsty cut-and-paste fishing method.  My last name is is very unusual, and the only other two people with my first and last name live on other continents.

Also, dudes need to stop trying to pick up chicks on Pinterest.  I don’t even know why the site has messaging.  I just want to look at recipes and memes.

Time to get to work.  See you guys in the evening.

Why I Don’t Act Like A Lady

Good evening.  I’m going to be going off for a few minutes, so you can duck out now if you don’t want to read it.

I’ve been having an issue for a few months with a guy I’ve never met who added me on social media.  He’s asked me out on a few occasions, and I politely rejected him each time.  After each rejection, he would comment something not-so polite on one of my pages.

For those of you who don’t really know me, I spent most of my life being a complete doormat who was afraid of offending people.  Part of it is upbringing.  Part of it is the cultural expectation that women should be “nice”.  Stand-up comedy has helped me become more assertive and defend myself.

With that being said, I’ve managed to fire a witty retort back at homeboy after each jab he takes at me.  He does not appear to be as armed in this battle of wits.  He actually has gotten pretty butt-hurt each time, which is pretty damn funny to me.  I know that’s mean of me.  I never claimed to be a nice person, and he should learn to stop provoking people if he can’t take it after dishing it out.

I had someone ask me today why I haven’t blocked him.  Honestly, he registers so low on my radar that I forgot about his existence entirely after the first few incidents.  Also, at this point I don’t want to back down.  He can block me if it bothers him enough.  Which it might, if he keeps making jabs at me.

The same person also told me to “beware unintended consequences”.  That’s all fine and well, but I have the right to defend myself and respond to snide comments.  In addition, this guy is honestly such a little passive-aggressive whiner that I can’t see him doing anything in person.  (Actually, even if he did, I invite him to see what would happen afterwards.  I’m sure I’ll be even less civil without the opportunity to edit myself online.)

I guess the root of my annoyance today is that women are still expected to be “nice”, even if we’re being provoked.  I would rather say what’s on my mind instead of act fake.  If that makes me not-ladylike, I embrace it.

Alright, I’m gonna get some writing done and prepare myself for the inevitable slew of comments.  See you guys in the morning.
